The funding landscape for research is changing rapidly and poses increasing challenges for young aspiring researchers to establish their own research careers. Classical metrics are no longer considered key. Recognition & Rewards is an international movement that intends to ‘modernize’ the way scientific talent and scientific achievement is recognized and rewarded. This interactive workshop will introduce key elements of Recognition & Research using the Dutch funding structure as an example.

This change has also led to questions being asked on how researchers are judged for their scientific achievements. Classical metrics, such as impact factors, citation scores, etc are no longer considered key in recognizing scientific talent. Recognition & Rewards is an international movement that intend to ‘modernize’ the way scientific talent and scientific achievement is recognized and rewarded. There is increasingly emphasis on aspects related to team science, empowering young researchers, open science and (societal) impact of research. This interactive workshop will introduce key elements of Recognition & Research and using the Dutch funding structure as example will illustrate how it is being implemented.
